In addition, the Fort Pierce Utilities Authority, through participation in the Florida Municipal Power Agency (FMPA), owns a 20,000 kW share of the Stanton Power Plant and a 13,000 kW share of the St. Lucie Nuclear Plant – more than enough capacity to meet the present needs of all customers.

Lineman Apprenticeships at Fort Pierce Utilities Authority
The lineworker apprentice at Fort Pierce Utilities is responsible for a variety of tasks and accepts assignments from Line Supervisor on shift and shall be assigned to work directly with a 1st Class Lineman. Learns to perform those tasks required in the construction, maintenance or operation of electrical power transmission and distribution facilities. Lineman Apprentice I shall be assigned to a Line Supervisor on 1 of 4 rotating shift schedule: midnight to 08:00 a.m.; 08:00 a.m. to 04:00 p.m.; and 04:00 p.m. to midnight and a swing-shift.

Journeyman lineman at Fort Pierce Utilities Authority Ability to efficiently handle emergencies and multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to accurately read and interpret as-builts, blue prints, diagrams, sketches, construction plans, and key maps of underground utilities systems. Ability to accurately prepare reports and keep records. Ability to distinguish between source and load side of water and electric meters and to train other departmental employees, as required.
