Anthony Alves

All-American Class of 2025
1884 Line Co.
Anthony “Tony” Alves has spent over 30 years shaping the powerline industry — from his start as a Northwest Line JATC apprentice in 1993 to his leadership roles at Northwest Lineman College. After earning his journeyman status in 1997, Tony led major projects across the West, including transmission work in Hawaii for the H3 Highway and Arizona Memorial Bridge. He also competed in national lineman rodeos and was known for mentoring apprentices wherever he worked.
In 2009, Tony joined NLC as a Training Specialist and went on to serve as Director of Curriculum, Utility Training Services, and more. He played a pivotal role in developing the SmartGrid elective, led the PG&E training improvement project, and certified instructors in wood pole fall protection. His peers call him the consummate educator — a steady force in technical training, safety, and the advancement of the trade.
