Three lineworkers in FR hoodies handling material at the truck

Straight talk

How we pick gear

Short version: we ask working lineworkers what lasts, then we check it against the job.

Where the answers come from

Crew feedback first

Boots, pliers, FR pants, knives. The people who climb and pull know what holds up after wet weather, long shifts, and one hard storm. We ask them. Surveys, DMs, and journeyman feedback beat a catalog write-up every time.

Then we look at the work itself: durability, fit for the job, common failure modes, and whether you can still buy it when a storm hits. Hands-on and trade-show looks when we can.

01

Ask the crew

Surveys, DMs, and journeyman feedback. What lasts on the belt? What fails in the wet? What would you buy again with your own money?

Check it for the work

Durability. Fit for the job. Common failure modes. Can you still get it when a storm hits? Hands-on and trade-show looks when we can.

Keep the buy links honest

We check retailer links so you are not dumped on a dead page. Link dies, it comes off.

Paid spots stay labeled

Brands can pay for a clearly marked partner placement. We say so up front. That money helps keep the lights on. It does not change what crews told us about the gear.

Affiliate disclosure

We are in the Amazon Associates program and may earn a commission if you buy through our links. Direct partners pay for labeled placement. Life-safety PPE is referral-only. We are never the store for fall protection or gear that can get someone hurt if we get it wrong.
