Montana Electric Cooperatives Association is hiring linemen. The Montana Electric Cooperatives' Association is a not-for-profit, statewide trade association representing 25 consumer-owned electric distribution cooperatives and three generation and transmission cooperatives. Electric cooperatives provide electricity service to more than 400,000 Montanans. The cooperatives’ service areas cover all 56 Montana counties. Collectively, Montana’s electric cooperatives own and operate more than 56,000 miles of distribution power lines in Montana. Each cooperative is customer-owned, locally controlled and not-for-profit. MECA is based in Great Falls and is the publisher for Rural Montana magazine, the state’s largest circulation publication at 120,000.

Step 02. Apprentice
Lineman apprentices at Montana Electric Coop will be responsible for construction, maintenance and operations. Use shovels, sledge hammers and 90 lb jack hammers. Perform aerial work in a safety belt in a safe and efficient manner
Step 03. Journeyman
Journeyman lineman at Montana Electric Cooperatives Association Digs pole and anchor holes, assists in pole setting, ground-assembles material into larger units for line work, hoists and lowers material and tools for other linemen by means of a handline, drives ground rods, and attaches ground wires. Under General Supervision, must climb poles and work on simple low-voltage equipment. Mounts crossarms and related equipment on poles, pulls wire, and splices and dead-ends wire
