Step 02. Apprentice
Lineworker apprentices at Kiewit gain experience with both sticking and gloving methods. Apprentices learn line work while completing on-the-job training (OJT) hours. They assist in construction of new overhead and underground services and service upgrades. They operate heavy and light equipment including digger derricks, aerial lifts, pulling and tensioning equipment, forklifts, dump trucks, and various dirt equipment. Apprentices must follow all safety policies and procedures at all times.
Step 03. Journeyman
Journeyman linemen at Kiewit build, repair, and maintain overhead electrical distribution systems. The work involves skilled tasks performed according to standard trade practices.
Step 04. Hiring
Applicants need a high school diploma or equivalent, plus previous years of experience in the field or a related area.
