Step 02. Apprentice
The apprentice lineworkers at Norwich Public Utilities works under general supervision of the Foreman the Lineman performs skilled line work in the operation, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems. Learn and assist with operating, inspecting, and maintaining aerial devices, digger/derricks, excavation equipment, and other electric line related equipment. Assist Journeyman class with performing distribution switching, documentation and mapping information, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Step 03. Journeyman
Journeyman lineman at Norwich Public Utilities Lineman constructs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground transmission lines. Performs site preparation tasks, including digging holes or trenches, installing anchors, climbing poles, and using equipment like digger derricks, aerial lifts, pulling and tensioning equipment, forklifts, and dump trucks. Being a Lineman installs wire and cable.
